    Many salespeople begin to make prospecting calls without any plan of what they are doing.  Well, calling prospects and actually converting them into legitimate appointments is one of the most difficult tasks for salespeople.


    One of the major reasons that most cold calls fail is that the sales representatives start their pitch the same way to everyone they are speaking with. Well, calling prospects requires a much better approach that stimulates attention, interest and engagement and the most important is to share the customized information with an on-target value statement.


    Go through the following tips to ensure your call campaign gets off to the right start:

    Go confident


    One of the biggest things that affect your call is your level of self-confidence. Keeping the second thoughts about your abilities, your business, you are not going to impress the prospect. To effectively advertise your service or product, confidence is the most important aspect. Also, your tone should be polite and inviting that will make you answer any questions come your way.

    In case, you cannot show confidence in what you are doing then be honest with the receiver and tell them about your services or products politely.

    Make the prospecting strategy! There is no fun making a prospecting call without an exact idea of what you are going to say. Such conversation will make you sound unprofessional and can destroy your impression.


    As a sales rep, you need to prepare a tight script for each type of prospect that you might call to share the crucial information effectively. If you think you are not confident with your script, practice it until you build the desired confidence. Having a pre-written script will allow you to focus on your objective and will keep you on track.

    Target your market

    Find out your target market and focus on them instead of targeting a specific market. Not every product or service is meant for everyone as it is desirable to a definable group of people. One way to know your target market is by considering your past or current clients that can help you determine the characteristics they have in common.

It is good to keep a hope for a result but do not push of there is too much resistance. Approach each prospect with a professional attitude and do not let a rejection get you down!
